mid-week Connect: 12/7/22 ~ …to build a community

Greetings and Happy Midweek!

Staying on the topic of community this week, let’s complete the premise we started exploring last week, that “It takes a community… (and we’ll add today) to build a community”. One facet of this is how celebration brings groups of people together into community (it takes a community…) which in turn sparks community building.

Since I personally am celebrating my birthday today - I figured celebration, as one facet of community building, would be a fun focus point. And I just happen to have thoroughly enjoyed a wonderful multi-cultural celebration just last night. With a friend (thanks, Nancy!), I attended a concert by the Soweto Gospel Choir (see link below) which was a celebration of: traditional music focused on the South African freedom movement; gospel music focused on the civil rights movement in the US, and a Christmas medley at the end. At the core of the whole experience was a joyful coming together and, by the end, a real sense of community between the performers, we the audience - and all those who went before, whose stories were being told through song and dance. It was great!

As we each prepare for whatever holidays we plan to observe this Season, let’s celebrate - and in that process, be community builders, shall we?!

See the LINKs below for more on community and celebration…

And thanks for being part of this Connect community!

Until next week,

Betsy
