mid-week Connect: 3/9/22 ~ Cultural Milestones

Greetings and Happy Midweek!

Last week was the first week in 18 months in which I did not post a Connect here. Part of the reason is that I am on a 2 week road trip from my home in Pennsylvania down to Florida, and back. And although I have personal business to attend to on the trip, I am also continuing to work my 2 other part time jobs - remotely. A lot to juggle!

But here I am this week, and I thought we’d pause to think about cultural milestones. Like the Seasons of life we celebrate - and in my American cultural background, that includes birthdays. In our Global SKILLs 3D Dynamics training*, milestones definitely happen in the HARBOR dimension, where we gather with others and do things together - like celebrate special events!

SO…how’s this for a Milestone:

Another reason I didn’t write last week is that the ‘normal’ Connect day was my beloved Father’s 100 birthday anniversary. I was able to celebrate in person with my brother, and many others online. Amazing - right?! 100 years of LIFE - because, even tho he was only with us on this earth 95 of those years…SO many great memories of him and his legacy live on in our hearts every single day, year by year.

Different cultures find a kaleidoscope of ways to celebrate milestones like birthdays, or death days. Commemorating these events bring our families and communities together. They reinforce our cultural priorities and values and overall BEing. They comfort and strengthen us, reminding us that even through loss, we gain - that life goes on in ways we maybe did not anticipate. AND - they are also often really just plain FUN! Well worth a pause - to reflect on…

How about you ~ what’s one cultural milestone in your life recently?

Share about that with a friend or note it here.

And check out the Global SKILLs LINKs below for your very own Milestone challenge!

Thanks for being part of this Connect community.

I’ll still be on the road next week, so probably won’t be posting a Connect - until the following week,

Betsy

Seeing as I am ‘on the road’ this week and next…I’m going to let YOU do the LINKs work!

Find an interesting milestones LINK which speaks to you - and share it here, with the story of how it connects you culturally.
